Holy Land Tour ~ Nazareth

Nazareth

Nazareth bears significance to the Christian world.

According to tradition, Mary’s Well (Arabic: عين العذراء‎, ʿAin il- ʿadhrāʾ or “The spring of the Virgin Mary“) is the place where the angel Gabriel told Mary that she will conceive by the power of the Holy Spirit and name the child Jesus.

Modern-day Nazareth, this well was positioned over an underground spring that served for centuries as a local watering hole. Honestly, I was expecting a hole in the ground where one can let a pail down to collect water.

Walking through the alley of Nazareth was like walking through a Time Tunnel – the feeling was indescribable. Through the alley and about the corner, we caught sight of a beautiful building – the White Mosque. I just love this diversity and hope the harmony will be forever.

Note: These are places of worship. Females are required to cover their heads with a scarf. It may be a hot on some days, but please be mindful of the culture and dress respectfully.

The Synagogue Church is situated in the heart of Nazareth. By tradition, this is the location where the ancient village synagogue once stood and where Jesus studied and prayed.
