Long Journey to Fatima

Today was all about traveling and making our way from Lourdes to Fatima – France to Portugal.

From our accommodation, Bus L5 to Gare de Lourdes. Our train from Gare de Lourdes will take us to Hendaye train station then switch train to get to Irun. Train hopping like as if there is quite a distance between Hendaye and Irun. The irony here is that Hendaye is the border commune in France and Irun is Spain. Hendaye and Irun is a bridge crossing apart. From Irun, we will board a RENFE overnight train with berth to Lisbon, Portugal. And from Lisbon, we carry on the journey by coach bus to Fatima.

Our train journeyed through the countryside and as it was raining quite a fair bit, our train from Lourdes could not move on and we were told to alight to board another train at a different platform. It does feel like one of those amazing race happening as railway ushers helped us to carry our luggage over the overhead bridge and down onto the opposite platform to board the awaiting train for Hendaye.
