Peaceful Kumegawa

Our journey to Kumegawa has been quite an experience as we rarely take the opportunity to venture beyond Tokyo.

Kumegawa is a very peaceful suburb situated in the outskirt of Tokyo. The atmosphere in Kumegawa is like being home in Perth minus the taller buildings.

How to get there: JR Yamanote line towards Osaki from Okachimachi to Takadanobaba. Change for Seibu Shinjuku Line (towards Shin-Tokorozawa) to alight at Kumegawa.

Travelers on a tight budget, Kumegawa is a very good place to stretch the yen. I had my fill of dango, mochi and bentos. My pack of mochi is 179yen. Each delicately shaped, filled with sweet red-bean paste and individually packaged.
