Travertines of Pamukkale
Pamukkale, means “cotton castle” in Turkish, contains hot springs and terraces of carbonate minerals left by the flowing water.


The ancient city of Hierapolis was built on top of this white “castle”. People have bathed in its pools for thousands of years and was formerly a healing centre where doctors used the hot thermal springs as treatments for their patients.
