A visit to the House of the Virgin Mary was much more of a pilgrim’s dream to visit the home of the mother of Jesus. Many would ask how can this be? Or how did Mary end up here?

According to the Holy Bible, before Jesus surrendered to death, he gave his Blessed Mother to his beloved disciple, John – Jesus said to her, “Woman, here is your so,” and to the disciple, “Here is your mother.” From that time onwards, John took her into his home.

The House of the Virgin Mary (Meryem Ana Evi in Turkish) is believed to be the place where the Blessed Mother spent the last years of her life until her Assumption (according to the Catholic doctrine).

Here is an usual feeling. I usually react badly to hotter weathers. The day we visited the sacred ground, I was not affected by the heat. I felt at peace as I strolled down the aisle where worshippers tag their prayers on the concrete wall. Definitely not at all bitten by a single mosquito even though there are bushes all around us.
