Lucca ~ City of 100 Churches

Heart of Medieval City of Lucca

In the heart of the pedestrian Square, Chiesa di San Michele in Foro. This Basilica church was dedicated to Archangel Michael. The size of this historical structure is amazing.

Entrance: No charge to enter. Hours: Daily 9am to 6pm.

Basilica of San Frediano has one of the most beautiful facade. The facade is made from monumental golden mosaic. The interior is built in white marble with a huge 12th-century Romanesque baptismal font.

Church Deconsecrated

Not all churches in Lucca still serve as a religious place. During my wait for Chiesa di San Francesco to open to check Mass timetables, I realised that the church was have been deconsecrated into a museum or studio for a musical recital.
