Exploring Zaragoza: A Cold-Weather Adventure

Zaragoza is the capital city of the province of Zaragoza. The weather in April in Zaragoza is mild cool European weather ranging between 7°C to 20°C (44-68°F).

Zaragoza-Delicias Estacion is a large station – one section for interstate trains and another for buses serving interstates. Large does not necessarily mean excellent. Asking our way around the Estacion is a nightmare as ticketing booths operators do not seem to understand or speak English. When all else fails and feeling extremely overwhelmed from the train rides, the easiest way to get to our accommodation by taxi.

Getting there

By Train or Bus

Zaragoza-Delicias Autobus Estacion (also known as Intermodal Zaragoza Delicias) is for buses traveling beyond Zaragoza to other parts of the country. Note that this is not a terminal for intercity buses. However, there are

This is my first time to Zaragoza. This part of Spain presented a very different and exciting perspective of the country. In the past, I have only traveled through bustling cities such as Barcelona and Madrid.

The weather in Zaragoza during our stay was just right for me to walk long distances in the cold without feeling easily exhausted.

Surroundings

Plaza de Toros de Zaragoza is a large bullring. Situated along Calle Vicente Gomez Salvo in C. de Ramón Pignatelli, the Plaza was built in 1764 and has been renovated many times. Standing in front of this magnificent structure, the Plaza has three floors and can seat up to 10,000 people.

Bullfighting is a controversial practice, with concerns about animal welfare and brutality. However, it is still an important part of Spain’s culture, and the Plaza in Zaragoza continues to host bullfighting events.

Food shopping

Mercado Central de Zaragoza is totally the place to check out when you’re in Zaragoza! This indoor market, known as Mercado Central, is packed with all kinds of shops, from fresh-baked goodies and fruits to veggies, butchers, fishmongers, and even some awesome tapas spots.

Though the prices were as competitive as the neighbouring supermarkets, the some stalls at Mercado Central sell fruits by the crates.

Famous Galician pie – Empanada

Empanada is a popular dish in the Galician cuisine and mainly served in towns of Galicia during festivals and pilgrimages. There is a wide variety of fillings for this savory pie, initially featuring mushroom or chicken fillings, and now also available with tuna or beef.

I bought my empanada from Supermercados Dia at a discount even when it was freshly baked.
