Greece – Athens & Airport Adventure

Strike in Athens

Imagine this.. given that we experienced irregular intervals of the metro trains while sight-seeing yesterday, what will 18th morning be like especially when we are required to be at the airport early as our flight departs at 6:30am?

Not knowing how long this crazy strike will carry on, we decided to check out of our accommodation and make our way to the airport in the evening to stay overnight at the airport for our flight.

We hailed a taxi and headed straight for the Airport. Not a sight of buses on the road. As traffic gradually build up, only private cars and taxis are spotted along the highways.

As evening turns to night, more and more travelers started flowing into the airport lobby. We were compelled to tie our luggage together so that we do not have to constantly keep our hands on them. Not that any theft was going to happen during the night but just doing it to maintain peace at mind. Families finding places to sit and rest for the night. It wasn’t too bad of an idea sleeping at the airport as we took turns to stretch our legs.
